peace.

Tomorrow is OUR FUTURE

Tomorrow marks the day where we elect a new President into the White House. It's also on a larger scale because this election is being watch around the world, waiting for one man, waiting for a new leader in the United States. Hoping that he will bring change and reestablish our place in this world. Who is this man I speak of? Who is this man that the world is waiting for? That man is Barack Obama.

When I speak of the world, I really mean it. In Madrid, Spain, an artist has planned to create a gigantic face of Obama sculpted from gravel and sand, which will cover nearly 2.5 acres (1 hectare) of Barcelona beachfront before the U.S. elections. Rodriguez-Gerada, 42, is a Cuban-born American who grew up in North Plainfield, New Jersey, near New York, and now lives in Barcelona, hopes that it will be big enough to be seen on Google Earth. It is expected to be done today.

The BBC asked more than 22,000 people in 22 countries around the world how they thought the outcome of the presidential election would affect their perception of our country. The most pro-Obama countries were: Kenya (87 percent), Nigeria (71 percent), Canada (69 percent), Italy (64 percent), France (62 percent), Australia (62 percent), and Germany (61 percent). That's a lot of people around the world saying a lot about Obama. Obama support worldwide tends to be strongest amongst youth and the more educated. Obama has inspired millions of Americans with his promise of uniting this country and restoring its image home and abroad.

So for those who have not voted yet, tomorrow is the day that you must go and vote. We must elect a new leader, and I really don't care who you vote for, but please exercise your right. There isn't much more I can stress on this matter, I just really want everyone to vote if they can. Get out there and make a difference, because if you don't vote, then you have no right to speak.

So get out there and vote tomorrow!

Truman Syndrome: When Life is like a TV show

Big ups to newsweek for this article..

As a director of psychiatrics at New York's Bellevue Hospital Center, Joel Gold has seen thousands of delusional patients. But a few years ago, he began noticing a different sort of paranoia: young white men who believed they were the subjects of their own reality-TV shows. Some, says Gold, who with his brother has written a preliminary paper and hopes to author a larger study, seemed pleased by their roles—excited by the anticipated million-dollar payout. Others were tormented. One came to New York to check whether the World Trade Center had actually fallen—believing 9/11 to be an elaborate plot twist in his personal storyline. Another came to climb the Statue of Liberty, believing that he'd be reunited with his high-school girlfriend at the top, and finally be released from the "show."

Local hip-hop group breaks routine of life with music

By admin in 32-6, Expressions on September 10th, 2008

By Vanessa Scaduto
Contributing Writer
Get Fresh Entertainment, a local hip-hop group, gave an intense and exciting performance Sept. 5 at San Marco’s Endo Exo.

The group consists of rappers William Heard (a.k.a. Just Will), Reggie Magpusao (a.k.a. Tha Antagonist), Alfredo Ladiana (a.k.a. JStahr), Phillip Beaver (a.k.a. Phil Banks) and producer/beats creator Jason Stokes (a.k.a. J), who is also the owner of John Dough Produqcions.

Heard leads Get Fresh Entertainment, which features members who have been performing in Jacksonville’s local hip-hop scene collectively for seven years.

“Our message is just to be, just really do music, do music as life,” Magpusao said. “We want to break genres. We want to make music where it’s not routine like our lives mostly are.”

John Dough Produqcions has not only worked with the Get Fresh group but has also worked and produced beats with many major artists in the area such as Flo Rida, T-Pain, Rich Boy, Ying Yang Twins and Swordz, who is backed by a full metal band.

Get Fresh Entertainment’s recent performance was done to get the word out about its new single release, Freshtro, which will be performed at its single release party. The party is scheduled to be held Sept. 13 at Aqua, which is located near Beach Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road.

Heard was excited about the turnout at Endo Exo, “considering the weather,” he said. He also plans on a much bigger turnout at Aqua since it’s a larger venue than Endo Exo.

Heard has received two consecutive Hip-Hop Hell local freestyle awards and was featured in The Florida Times-Union. His past lyrics convey a sense of consciousness where he speaks about responsibility to his community, family and friends, which most Southern rappers are not recognized for as much as their Northern counterparts.

After receiving his last Hip-Hop Hell freestyle award in 2006, Heard told Christy Whitehead of the Florida-Times Union he would be getting out of the rap game and either heading to Los Angeles or
New York.

At this point, he could never really get out of the music scene since it’s a major part of his being, but he still plans on moving to Los Angeles next year to further pursue his passion of music, he said.

“My ultimate goal is to obviously be successful [and] creative,” Heard said. “Make music that transcends time. Genuine music. The message we’re trying to get out is to be fresh in everything you do. Have a fresh outlook in life; don’t be stale. We want people to dance and holla.”

Obama '08

So this coming election, I will be voting for BO (Barrack Obama). I have to admit, I was very skeptical when Sen. Obama was making his run for the White house, and for history to become the very first African-American President of the United States. Then, I was a Hilary supporter, because I was hoping for the next 4 years to be just exactly like how it was when President Bill Clinton was in office. Now, since the DNC (Democratic National Convention) I was impressed by Sen. Obama's speach, because it touched on the issues that I personally wanted to hear as working middle-class American.

During these past 8 years with President Bush's administration, there has been rising crime, poverty and unemployment, all which have been recorded to be an all-time high. With that said, nothing much has been done for working middle-class Americans these past 8 years, we've been taxed, and the richer have been receiving tax cuts. It's our right to stand up as Americans to end this now. We can no longer stand in the dark, and watch this country be torn apart from the inside, just because we're afraid to take a stand and do what's right. We have a depleting educational system, our teachers are not being paid the salaries they deserve to educate our children. Our health care system is not in good shape either, and something has to be done about it NOW.

If you're old enough, please go out there and vote. Make a decision and I hope that your decision is based on the information you've obtained alone. It's time for a change, and if you need to register it's not too late, go to VoteForChange.com and register to vote. You can also register to vote at RockTheVote.com and there is several different websites to register at. Make sure your voice is heard, and make a decision for our future.

Nike Air Flight Lite - Lime 90's homie..

Photobucket

After already previewing the black/purple Nike Air Flight Lite, things are continued to be kept simple with the upcoming lime version of the Air Flight Lite. White dominates the base as lime and black appear as accents and not to forget to mention the icy sole area, which were not featured on the original model which was first seen in 1991 worn by Scottie Pippen. Not a color-way Scottie would wear, but definitely one to turn a few heads on and off the court. Via Sneaker Freaker.

After winning bronze medals in 1999 and 2000 Franco won the South American Junior Championship javelin title in 2001. Franco was South American under 23 champion in 2004.

The Nokia 888...

is weird and cool at the same time.

*how the user interacts

E-motions… It means electronical motions that 888 has. You can send and receive forms from / to friends. You can send a heart shape to your girlfriend, so her telephone turns into an icon of heart. Or you can send a dancing form to your friends to call them to the party tonight. This is the fun side of the product. If we look from the functionality side, 888 is quite flexible. You can put it into your pocket, roll it and make it smaller, or put on your wrist when you want to make a video call on the go. If you want to talk like a normal telephone, there you have your telephone shape. We go through a lot of places and situations in the daily life, so it seems like one form is not enough.

What's a hero without a villain...!

If there weren’t any bad guys in the world, there’d be no reason for heroes to exist. With the success of The Dark Knight this summer, and Heath Ledger’s Oscar deserving performance, it would make sense that Nike SB include a Joker inspired dunk low to contrast their Heroes pack slated to drop this fall. The shoe features a gum rubber outsole with a plaid pattern in the mid panel, green denim in the heel and toe box, and purple suede in the front panel of the upper.

Fit For Kings... We Run Duval..

Some say that Jacksonville or Florida period, is slow when it comes to the fashion industry. I have a simple and quick reply to that, "We do not represent the fashion Industry". We represent street culture. Fit For Kings Clothing is a prime example of when I say street culture. FFK does not tie itself any to fashion rule on as to what can and cannot be done. It's not so much as to that FFK rebels, like a teen from its parent, but more like an individual who stands out making its own statement.

Headed by Josh Pafford, (CEO), Fit For Kings launched in 2006 and has made it clear that they are a premier clothing line that represents the street culture of North Florida. Currently in the works of making deals with street boutiques nationwide , FFK clothing will soon be available to everyone. For the meantime you can log into www.fitforkingsclothing.com to check out the latest and greatest. Fall and Winter line will soon be released.

'Bigfoot' Trackers Claim They've Found Their Prey

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- It’s more than 7-feet tall. Weighs over 500 pounds and walked upright -- three "Bigfoot" seekers, including a Redwood City man, Wednesday claimed they have proof that they have found the body of the elusive creature in the wilds of Georgia.

And on Friday, at a news conference in Palo Alto, they say they will present DNA evidence to prove the carcass of “Rickmat” is that of a bigfoot.

Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, Georgia residents who lead Bigfoot-tracking expeditions, say they found the body of what appears to be a Bigfoot in the woods of northern Georgia and will join local Bigfoot researcher Tom Biscardi at the news conference, according to Robert Barrows, who is publicizing the event.

Among the creatures's other physical characteristics of the body -- according to the hunters website -- http://www.searchingforbigfoot.com/ -- were flat feet similar to human feet. Its footprint is 16 ¾ inches long and the length from palm to tip of the middle finger is 11 ½ inches long.

"I think you'll find that this is the real deal," Barrows said of the alleged discovery.

Whitton, a police officer in Clayton County, and Dyer, a former correctional officer, are not saying exactly where the body was found or where it is now, Barrows said.

Biscardi, a veteran Bigfoot tracker who said he went to Georgia to view the find over the weekend, said DNA tests are being conducted and a team of scientists will study the body, but declined to name any scientists involved.

Officials from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division said the largest wildlife they are aware of in the state are black bears and white-tail deer.

Goal Line Blitz

Alright so I love football. I love football so much, that during the dead season, I found this site called Goal Line Blitz. It's a MMORPG for football heads like myself. So basically when you sign up and start playing you're an agent, and you create players and you can make how many players you want and you get them signed to a team. I'm not so crazy about this game, because I only monitor one player. Though I do see some people with several different players playing for several different teams, and yes you can own your own team.

Currently this is my player, and I play in the Canadian league for the Ottawa Thunder. I didn't start off with this team, because my old team wasn't starting me, so I got my T.O. (Terrell Owens) on and wanted to be traded. Anyways, my players position is DT (defensive tackle) and 3 games into season 4, he's having a career season. So I really don't keep up with this that much, but it gives me something to do when I'm at work.

Basically I'm just suggesting something to take up your time if anyone of you guys out there are football nerds like myself.

Just remember who told you so.

UPDATE!: I was recently traded. So I don't play for Ottawa Thunder anymore.

Who are "The Freshman"......?

The following was written by Jonathan "Mo" Morales for Get Fresh Entertainment, shedding a little light on the group, goals, and being Hip Hop in DUUUVAL...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

It happens everywhere that hip-hoppers congregate. Rappers, dancers and poets alike engage in battling to trump a competitor or simply to keep another's ego in check. Lyrical assaults are prized for the skills necessary to compete in a battle. Wits, presence and lyrical skill all go into a battle session, most importantly is the improvisational aspect. Nothing is scripted, and nothing is taken personally. In many instances, after confirming a winner, the rappers who have just battled come down from the stage complimenting each other and citing lines that struck them as exceptionally creative. In the hip hop world, respect and disrespect clash violently, but sometimes the competition fosters something much greater than a freestyle award.

For Get Fresh Entertainment rapper Just Will, working with his rivals is nothing new. In a local freestyle championship, Just Will has triumphed twice over the same opponent and friend, Robin Bankz, but what happens off stage isn't about bad mouthing or belittling the other guy, it's about creating music and doing so by working with artists and talents around you. I shared some time with Get Fresh Entertainment at The Lionz Den Recording Studioz to get some firsthand insight on the local hip-hop scene and how collaborating impacts artists.

"It's probably more commonly referred to as 'hating'," said Just Will as he explained to me the crab pot theory that engulfs so many rappers who are trying to make a break into the scene by discrediting the work of others. But this scene does no justice to Get Fresh, who are more open-minded to talents in the area.

By tradition, hip hop has been divisive in the sense of the 'solo rapper' making a career out of their self. Unity was not the norm and rivalries often formed between rappers common to the same community. That is starting to change. "A lot of cities now are forming together, Jacksonville is just starting to be like that," said J. Stahr, director of promotions for Get Fresh Entertainment as he comments on the movement that rappers from across America are joining by representing their community together. "No more than two years ago I'd say everybody was hating."

"It's more of a unified front now," says Just Will. Different rappers are able to share the stage now but many of the differences held between them remain. "There was a difference between the backpackers and the trappers… now you go to Hip Hop Hell and there's no beef, you see the dope boys with their hands up and then you see us jamming to their [music] too!" says Just Will as he comments on the coming together of different styles, backpackers referring to the artists who value more the lyrical sense behind rapping and trappers who rap more about the plight of life on the streets. "Now it just feels a lot better being an artist in Jacksonville since people have started recognizing everybody's talents."

After discussing some politics with the Get Fresh crew, I was allowed to step into John Dough's The Lionz Den Recording Studioz. I was led to a suite in the back of the building and soaked in the surroundings. The electronic equipment in the room emitted a low hum that filled any silence. John Dough is a friendly and quiet character, he did not waste any words and it was clear that he knew what his job was.

Backing up most hip-hop artists today are the music producers who create the tracks for the rappers. It is possible for rappers to produce their own music, but this creates the single-faceted production that Get Fresh Entertainment tries to avoid. The relationship that Get Fresh shares with John Dough Producqciouns mirrors the type of business relations between artists and producers that are successful on a national level. John Dough Produqciouns and Get Fresh Entertainment work very closely but both remain independent from a business standpoint. John Dough produces many of the beats for Get Fresh but not all. Likewise, the artists in Get Fresh employ other producers to work for them; such is the case for Just Will. He has worked with other producers such as D.V.US, a producer closely tied to Swordz, one of Jacksonville's premier rappers that actually has a metal band, HoodRock, backing him at his live events. John Dough Produqciouns though, remains the main source for beats and studio support work.

The way that John Dough Producqciouns operates fosters networking and common goal setting. From the studio, John Dough produces beats, designs album artwork and mixes and masters the recordings. I recently asked John Dough about how he goes about selling his beats; once again I was given perspective into the inter-relations and dealings of artists in the area. "All different ways," says John Dough. "Sometimes people come to me with an idea and I just make it, sometimes I just make a beat in general and sell it to whomever likes it, or sometimes I'll make a beat with somebody in mind because I know they would like that beat… all different formats."

Most notable though is how word-of-mouth benefits both John Dough and Get Fresh, while linking various artists and producers throughout Jacksonville. "That's how I get most of my clients… it comes from me doing something for one person and then another person hearing it, and being like 'yo I want some [beats] like that,' that's why I give out free beats every now and then, it's like advertising," said John Dough. That varying clientele is what keeps John Dough in business and helps Get Fresh reach status. "He might be doing something for an artist more significant at one point in their career than we are… we leech off that popularity too."

Listeners and budding artists in particular are expected to know more than who performs a song in their scene, they should have some knowledge about the production behind an act. This in turn is how artist and producers garnish a fan base and open more opportunities. "If it's a real hot song, it's always a good thing to make sure they say your name as a producer in that song," said John Dough. Publicity for John Dough equals publicity for Get Fresh, so naturally both entities will thrive upon each other's hard work and efforts. "In the end," adds Just Will, "it's all about the money."

Phil explained that he was going to have an “iced out” box of Newports placed on a diamond-studded chain. At first, I thought the idea was silly, but conceded that it was a pretty cool idea, and encouraged him to get it. Hahah fast fwd to 8/11/08…and what do we have? As pictured above you can see the homie Nore rocking the very chain Phil mentioned hahaha. I almost feel bad, because I know its like to have an idea, and have the industry umm..steal it. Knockin' Boots '08

For ya'll who don't know, this original song by H-Town back in '93 was what got it off and poppin'. Though I was only in the 3rd grade, I knew the sexual intensity of this song brought to the table. I know, I know, you might criticize me on how someone in the 3rd grade would know anything about intense sex, right?

So anyways Pretty Rick cover the song, and switch up a little lyrics here and there, added some rapping and pretty much the song is identical, I say about 88 percent identical.

Bernie Mac... You will be missed...

It's amazing to see how people react to the death of somebody they have never met. That is how you know you've made an impact in the course of your lifetime. We as people often recognize the negative, sadness, and sorrow in times like this. Instead of that, lets praise and celebrate the life of Mr. Bernie Mac. I know a lot of people can relate when i say that there were times when things we just not so good, but because of Bernie Mac and other actor/comedians like him, i was able to get away from everything even if it was just the course of half an hour watching the Bernie Mac Show or watching a movies.

We will all miss you Bernie Mac.

OSD - Obsessive Sneaker Disorder

With the interest in the footwear industry growing each day, new heights have been reached with the creation of 2 video channels based on sneakers. Launched by Dee “Sole Proprietor” Wells and Sean “Paper Chaser” Williams are the creators of the popular podcast OSD-Obsessive Sneaker Disorder, take there love of sneakers to the next level by creating OSD / OSD 2 on Mogulus.com, a live broadcast video network.

Both channels feature sneaker related videos and commercials. Sole Properitor claims “OSD is basically like MTV for the sneaker world. The programming will have footage from events and campouts, as well as other news stories and videos that are created daily by OSD sufferers all over the world. OSD2 will feature only music videos and films made for sneakers, and at times some classic footwear commercials that we all miss.” Both channels are now live and will run 24hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Furthermore, sneaker loves are called on to submit their own high quality videos no longer than 3 1/2 minutes to Dee and Sean to the following email addresses: obsessivesneakerdisorder@gmail.com and paperchasr@gmail.com

Generating power from kites? WORD?!

Researchers in Italy have high hopes for a new wind-power generator that resembles a backyard drying rack on steroids. Despite its appearance, the Kite Wind Generator, or KiteGen for short, could produce as much energy as a nuclear power plant.

Here's how it works: When wind hits the KiteGen, kites spring from funnels at the ends of poles. For each kite, winches release a pair of high-resistance cables to control direction and angle. The kites are not your Saturday-afternoon park variety but similar to those used for kite surfing -- light and ultra-resistant, capable of reaching an altitude of 2,000 meters.

KiteGen's core is set in motion by the twirl of the kites; the rotation activates large alternators producing current. A control system on autopilot optimizes the flight pattern to maximize the juice produced as it sails on night and day. A radar system can redirect kites within seconds in case of any interference: oncoming helicopters, for example. Or small planes or even single birds.

Research by Sequoia Automation, the small company near Turin heading the project, estimates that KiteGen could churn out one gigawatt of power at a cost of just 1.5 euros per megawatt hour. That's nearly 30 times less than the average cost in Europe of 43 euros per megawatt hour.

Proponents say other plusses of the merry-go-round generator are the contained cost of 360,000 euros and limited amount of space needed. Even with a modest diameter of about 320 feet (100 meters), they estimate KiteGen can produce half a gigawatt of energy. Emulators for the scalable project envision a 2,000 meter-version that would generate 5 gigawatts of power.

Fortunately for Sequoia, whose core business is sensor design and industrial automation, employees take work home with them. Massimo Ippolito, head of R&D, inspired by his weekend hobbies of hang gliding and kite surfing, started mulling the idea that would become KiteGen. Six years and seven patents later, he's leading a team of 20 to construct the giant, energy-creating carousel. The team expects it to be up and running in about two years.

"It's been called revolutionary, but I see it as part of a new energy future," said Ippolito, 48. "With the right mix of photovoltaic, solar thermal power, plus wind power from KiteGen, we can try to meet the needs for rising global electricity consumption."

Ippolito hopes that because of the amount of energy produced for its compact size, KiteGen will become the wind generator of choice, standing head and shoulders over similar recent projects such as glider generators and windmills.

So far, things look promising. A small-scale portable version called MobileGen (a single kite trailing from a flat-bed truck) made good headway when test-launched in August. It generated energy -- and a list of improvements. Researchers were "really charged up," Ippolito said, to see the generator in action.

It may not be completely smooth sailing for KiteGen, though. Some approve the concept but have adopted a wait-and-see attitude.

"It's a fascinating project, for the amount of power it promises and the low cost," said Luciano Pirazzi, who studies renewable energy for Italian government agency ENEA. "But -- and there are a series of buts -- it is still basically a concept on the drawing board. Feasibility has to be proven."

Outstanding questions about such a generator include location and possible bureaucratic headaches over permits for air space. Current speculation is that KiteGen may soar above the former Trino Vercellese nuclear power plant, already a no-fly zone, in the region.

Italy has until 2010 to bump up renewable energy to 22 percent of total electricity supply, in order to meet the EU Renewable Energy Directive. Wind power is a key component and competition from national and foreign enterprise is expected to be stiff.

Naysayers probably won't knock the wind entirely out of KiteGen's sails. Sequoia was honored earlier this year with a 2006 World Renewable Energy Award for its work on KiteGen.

KiteGen also managed to convince Turin utility company AEM to cover 40 percent of expenses for the prototype and sign on as technical partner. It was the first time the utility, which is a long way from Italy's prime windmill coastal zones, has invested in such a project.

"When you first see it you have to smile, because it's a bit funny looking," said Andrea Ponta, an engineer at AEM. "But the more you examine it, you see the idea is sound and the technology is already available."

Branging the 90s BIKE...haha part 1

Bringing the 90s back....

Photobucket

ya know, EVERYONE LOVES the 80s...i guess im an 80's baby, born in 82' however, as much as i love day-glow, snap bracelets, and...Well, i shouldn’t even have to mention how much i love the Transformers...i must say, the 90s as a whole really defined me...no one really likes to big up the 90s, its almost as if we went from 1989 str8 into the 00's...that quirky little decade in between took pop culture to entirely new heights...now, im not going to break down EVERYTHING in the 90s because, that'd take too long, and im @ work while writing this blog so yeah, we'll make this a list of things from the 90s that really mattered to "me"...haha

I LOVED THE 90S...

ok first, we HAVE to start w/ the kicks, i love dunks, and supras, and blah blah just like the rest of you sneaker heads out there, but the over saturation of the "sneaker head" phenom has left me to ? if i really even want to be associate w/ that any longer. w/ that said, heres to bringing back some CLASSIC shoes from my youth, that till this day, are the inspiration of alot of the kicks you love...first id like to thank the nike Air Raid (grey/blk)
Photobucket

Released in 1992…I was 10yrs old, grade school, this shoe was so dope…I remember it like yesterday, mom took me to Footlocker in Arlington for back to school kicks…now, we weren’t rich by any means, I typically got 1 pair of shoes to start school w/ then got another pair Christmas time, and if was lucky a pair for spring time(come to think about it, I used get kicks all throughout the school year) ah well, but yeah so she bought me these, then Christmas came, and I HAD to have them again…this was the first(certainly not the last) I bought two of the same shoes in the school year…prolly not a big deal to most, but for a 10yr old in Arlington, I was BALLIN hahahaaha…very dope shoe…

Remember when basketball shoes were the lick? The Penny’s, Jason Kidd’s, haha who remembers the Kevin Johnson converse Reacts w/ the Gel hahah don’t front like them CONS weren’t FRESH…that reminds me, im going to look for some of those jointsshoes in the 90s were ALL about basketball, was no such thing as “casual”…or “lifestyle” back then…we wont even go into the whole Jordan phenom…Until high school…when it became less about hoop sneaks, and more about fly ones…

To be cont…we’re going to talk about the cartoons of the 90s…word?..word…Just Will loves ya.

Beautiful Losers....

To commemorate the film Beautiful Losers, Presented by Nike Sportswear, Nike designed a series of 22 dunks with iconic stills they felt were key moments of the narrative. They wanted to tell the Beautiful Losers story utilizing footwear as the medium. Film in motion, on your feet. In addition, Nike is also sponsoring “Make Something” youth mentorship workshops in select cities that invites local kids to participate in sign painting, photography, film making, footwear design, tattoo art, and skateboard graphic design.
